Yet again The Young Farmers are bringing fun, frolics and fits of
laughter all over the province as Kilrea and Garvagh players bring
to life the hilarious comedy “Second
Honeymoon”, by the Ulster Playwright Sam Cree, and directed by Mr William Clyde from Garvagh. The group hosts a star line up of past, present and future presidents and vice presidents of the association
not to mention elite members from Kilrea and Garvagh clubs.
Set in the 1970’s Second Honeymoon tells the story
of a working class couple from Belfast,
Rosemary Patterson and Robert McCahon, who celebrate 25 years of marriage by revisiting the place of their first honeymoon,
the beautiful seaside resort of Bangor. Staying in the same hotel they arrive to find the only difference is an old woman
fast asleep, smelling of booze, Lorna Torrens, and a spoiled poodle! With the
arrival of two other couples, the first from Manchester, a dominatrix wife and her lapdog husband, “WALTER!” Linda Steele and David Knox, the second, newly
weds on their honeymoon, Janet Cunningham and Adrian Copper.
With the arrival of more guests including an ex boyfriend, a rather camp male and a ship of American sailors can only
mean a story of lust, love and most importantly laughter!
The group are raising money for the Ulster Cancer foundation and The Heart Foundation,
proceedings from the play, including DVD sales will be split evenly between both charities.
A truly enjoyable night out to brighten up even the dullest day,
and all for charity! Congratulations to the members of Kilrea and Garvagh players,
not to mention William Clyde, director, a soaring success from every aspect!
